Back In Stock: IEC 39-0007-05 — CCD Removal Tool from Distal Head, Includes 3 Different Inserts

IEC part number 39-0007-05, our CCD removal tool for distal head extraction, is back in stock and ready to ship. This is a purpose-built tool that serious flexible endoscope repair facilities keep on the bench — if you've been waiting on availability, now is the time to order.

What Is the IEC 39-0007-05 CCD Removal Tool?

The 39-0007-05 is a precision mechanical tool designed specifically for removing the CCD imaging assembly from the distal head of a flexible endoscope during CCD replacement or distal end repair. It includes three different inserts, allowing the tool to accommodate multiple distal head configurations across different endoscope platforms and manufacturers.

Why a Dedicated CCD Removal Tool Matters

CCD replacement is one of the most technically demanding repairs in flexible endoscope service. The CCD assembly sits deep within the distal head, bonded in place and surrounded by precision optical and mechanical components with very little working clearance. Attempting to remove a CCD without the proper tool risks:

  • Damaging the distal head housing — an expensive component to replace
  • Cracking or dislodging the objective lens assembly
  • Bending or breaking the fragile CCD flex cable
  • Introducing contamination into the optical path

A purpose-built removal tool like the 39-0007-05 applies controlled, even extraction force at the correct geometry — protecting the surrounding components while giving the technician the mechanical advantage needed to release a bonded CCD cleanly. For repair facilities performing CCD replacements regularly, this tool pays for itself quickly in avoided component damage alone.

Three Inserts for Multiple Platform Compatibility

The inclusion of three different inserts is a practical design decision. Distal head configurations vary across OEM platforms — Olympus®, Fujifilm®, Pentax®, and others use different distal head geometries that require different tool contact points for safe CCD extraction. The three-insert set gives your technicians the flexibility to work across multiple scope brands without needing separate tools for each platform.

These are original Olympus® accessories — not aftermarket or compatible replacements — making them the preferred choice for facilities with OEM-only accessory policies or for scopes being returned to clinical service.

What Are Endoscope Valves and Why Are They Replaced So Frequently?

The air/water valve and suction valve are the two primary control valves mounted on the control body of a flexible endoscope. They are among the highest-turnover accessories in any endoscopy department or repair facility because they are single-use or limited-use items that require replacement after every procedure or after a defined number of reprocessing cycles.

The air/water valve (MH-438) controls the delivery of air and water through the scope's air/water channel — essential for clearing the lens and insufflating the lumen during a procedure. The suction valve (MH-443) controls suction through the instrument/suction channel, allowing fluid and debris aspiration during the procedure.

Both valves are subject to wear from repeated use and reprocessing, and degraded valves can result in poor air/water delivery, suction loss, or channel leakage — all of which affect procedure quality and scope performance.

Broad Series Compatibility

The MH-438 and MH-443 cover four major Olympus® flexible endoscope series in a single accessory SKU — the 140, 160, 180, and 190 series. This broad compatibility makes these valves a high-priority stocking item for:

What Is the Olympus® UCR Insufflator?

The Olympus® UCR is a CO2 insufflator used in endoscopic procedures to inflate the gastrointestinal tract, providing the working space needed for diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. It is a capital equipment item in active use across hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and endoscopy clinics worldwide. Like all endoscopy capital equipment, it accumulates cosmetic and functional wear over years of use — and at the cost of replacement, refurbishment is almost always the more economical path when a unit is structurally sound.

Why Refurbishment Makes Financial Sense

A fully refurbished Olympus® UCR insufflator — cosmetically restored and electronically serviced — returns to clinical or customer-facing use at a fraction of replacement cost. For endoscopy dealers and repair facilities managing pre-owned equipment inventory, refurbishment directly increases resale value. For hospitals and ASCs, it extends capital equipment life without a procurement cycle.

IEC's ability to address cosmetic, mechanical, and electronic issues in a single service engagement means your equipment doesn't need to go to multiple vendors — one shipment to IEC covers the full scope of refurbishment.

Who Uses IEC's Insufflator Refurbishment Service

  • Independent endoscope repair facilities and dealers refurbishing pre-owned Olympus® UCR units for resale
  • Hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers restoring in-service insufflators
  • Endoscopy equipment leasing companies managing multi-unit UCR inventories

Good news for repair facilities working on Fujifilm® flexible endoscopes — IEC part number 09-0125-00, the brass cable stopper assembly (3 pieces), is back in stock and ready to ship. Compatible with Fuji 450, 530, and 600 series colonoscopes, and will also fit compatible gastroscope platforms.

If you've been waiting on this part, now is the time to order.

What Is a Cable Stopper Assembly?

The cable stopper assembly is a precision angulation system component found in flexible endoscopes. It serves as the terminal anchor point for the angulation cables that control the bending section — the mechanism that allows an endoscopist to steer the scope tip during a procedure. When cable stoppers wear, strip, or fail, angulation control is compromised, often resulting in a scope that cannot deflect properly in one or more directions.

Cable stopper failure is one of the more common angulation system repair needs in Fujifilm® 450, 530, and 600 series scopes. Because the component is under constant mechanical tension during every procedure, wear accumulates over time. Sourcing a quality replacement from a reliable supplier is critical — a poorly machined stopper can strip under load, causing the same failure to recur shortly after repair.

Why Brass?

Brass is the material of choice for cable stopper assemblies in flexible endoscope angulation systems because of its machinability, corrosion resistance, and ability to hold thread engagement under the repeated tensile loads placed on angulation cables during use. IEC's 09-0125-00 is precision-machined brass, maintaining the dimensional accuracy and thread integrity that angulation system repair demands.

Compatibility

  • Fujifilm® 450 series colonoscopes
